Open roles and standing registers

The position we are asked for more than any other, and the one where the gap between a covering email and a CV is widest. If you can actually drive a tender in a swell, launch and recover toys on your own and keep a teak deck to standard, this is worth twenty minutes of your time.

What gets a profile read closely

• Dated contracts on vessels over 30m, not “several seasons in the industry”
• Tender and watersports content with the make and size of what you actually drove
• STCW and ENG1 both in date, plus PB2, PWC or Yacht Rating
• Right to work in the EU, or Schengen days still on the clock, stated plainly
• Two referees with rank, vessel and a working phone number

Apply as deckhand

Running a deck team of three or more, owning the toy programme, and being the person the mate does not have to check on. Stepping up from a strong lead deckhand position is considered where the sea time supports it.

What gets a profile read closely

• Evidence you have led crew: how many, on what, for how long
• Crane, tender and watersports operations described with equipment and vessel names
• Yacht Rating or above, PB2/PWC, and ideally an instructor grade rather than a holder grade
• Tenure: we look hard at churn, and at why each contract ended

Apply as bosun

Service, housekeeping and laundry to a standard that survives a full charter week. Land hospitality counts here. Five star service, sommelier training and floristry all transfer, but say what you did, where, and for how long.

What gets a profile read closely

• Charter weeks worked, guest numbers, and whether you ran a cabin or a section
• Service qualifications: WSET, silver service, barista, floristry, food safety
• STCW and ENG1 in date; language levels stated honestly
• Any interior detailing or laundry specialism, because it is undersold constantly

Apply for interior

Budgets, rotas, provisioning, owner preferences and a team that stays. Owners replace chief stews far more often than they should, and almost always because of fit rather than skill. So we ask about the boats as hard as we ask about the candidate.

What gets a profile read closely

• Team size managed and interior budget held
• Retention: how long your last three interiors stayed together
• Owner boat versus charter boat experience, and which you actually prefer
• Purser side skills: accounts, provisioning systems, ISM/ISPS familiarity

Apply as chief stew

The hardest bench in the industry to build, and the one where refit experience is worth most. If you have run a yard period, with contractors, systems and sea trials, say so in detail.

What gets a profile read closely

• AEC 1 & 2, MEOL or Y-tickets, with grades and dates
• Named systems: engines, generators, watermakers, HVAC, hydraulics, AV/IT
• Refit and shipyard periods, with what you actually managed
• Whether you are willing to stand a deck watch as well

Apply for engineering

Guest counts, dietary regimes, provisioning in awkward ports and crew food that keeps a crew happy. Land kitchens count, so tell us the covers and the kitchen.

What gets a profile read closely

• Guest and crew numbers cooked for, and the length of the charters
• Dietary specialisms: plant based, allergen, medical, kosher/halal
• Food safety and HACCP certification, in date
• A menu sample or photographs, a link is fine
